The Seattle Seahawks acquired left tackle Duane Brown from the Houston Texans in exchange for cornerback Jeremy Lane, multiple outlets reported on Monday.
The 32-year-old Brown returned to the Texans after his holdout did not result in a new contract. He is entering his 10th NFL season and was the longest-tenured Texans player prior to the trade.
Brown, whose base salary was $9.4 million this season, lost about $3.3 million -- forfeiting six $552,921 game checks -- by not reporting. He will have about $6.1 million remaining on his base salary.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection has two years remaining on his six-year, $53.4 million contract through the 2018 season with a $9.65 million nonguaranteed base salary next year.
Brown was a vocal critic of team owner Bob McNair's comment, "We can't have the inmates running the prison," during last week's owners meeting in reference to ongoing player protests during the national anthem.
Lane was supplanted in Seattle's lineup by rookie Shaquill Griffin. The 27-year-old Lane recorded nine tackles in five games this season and had 124 and two interceptions in 62 career contests -- all with the Seahawks.
