Colts QB Andrew Luck, Chiefs S Eric Berry and Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski named AFC Players of Week 13

Quarterback Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, safety Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs and kicker Stephen Gostkowski of the New England Patriots are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the 13th week of the 2016 season (December 1, 4-5).

Luck’s career-high passer rating of 147.6 on Monday night highlighted the best offensive performance we’ve seen from the Colts in 2016. The honor for Luck marks the third time a Colts player has won a weekly award this season (Week 5-Adam Vinatieri, Week 9-Jordan Todman).

Gostkowski was 4-for-4 on field goals in the win over the Rams, including three field goals of 40 or more yards (48, 45 and 45). It marked the third time in his career that has mas been successful on three field goals of 40 or more yards in a single game. He also made three kicks of 40 or more yards vs. Arizona on Sept. 16, 2012, and most recently at Buffalo on Oct. 12, 2014. It is the 11th time in his career he has made four or more kicks in a single game.

Berry’s first pick came near the end of the second quarter. He returned it 37 yards for a touchdown. Later in the game, in the fourth quarter, the Falcons had just scored to make it 28-27. Looking to extend their lead to three points instead of two, the Falcons opted for a two-point conversion. Berry picked off Matt Ryan’s pass and returned it 99 yards for the first “pick-two” in NFL history. Berry also had two tackles in the game.
