Jaguars plagued with injuries as OTAs begin

"The 100 Yards" Staff Report

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Jaguars have been plagued with injuries recently.

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the No. 5 overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft, has sustained a small tear to the meniscus in his right knee during Phase 2 of on-field workouts. The Jaguars announced the injury in a release Thursday afternoon.

Similar things happened to the Jaguars last year. Dante Fowler Jr., the No. 3 overall selection by the Jaguars in the 2015 NFL Draft, missed the 2015 season after sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament on the first day of the team's rookie minicamp.

On Monday, however, the Jaguars announced that center Luke Bowanko
injured his labrum in his right hip. He will require surgery.

Also announced on Monday, defensive end Jonathan Woodard, a 7th round by the Jaguars in the 2016 Draft, sustained an Achilles injury in Phase 2 of on-field workouts. He had successful Achilles tendon repair surgery.

Woodard and Bowanko will be placed on team's PUP list (Physically Unable to Perform).
