Redskins QB Kirk Cousins, Giants S Landon Collins and Lions K Matt Prater named NFC Players of Month for November

Quarterback Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins, safety Landon Collins of the New York Giants and kicker Matt Prater of the Detroit Lions are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Month for November.

In three games in the month of November, Cousins completed 84-of-116 passes (72.4 percent) for 1,086 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 124.4. His 362.0 passing yards per game led all NFL quarterbacks in the month of November.

In four November games, all Giants victories, Collins had 30 tackles (23 solo), including a sack, and three interceptions. Collins’ outstanding performance against the Eagles earned him his second consecutive NFC Defensive Player of the Week Award. He was the first Giants player to win player of the week awards in successive games, the first defensive player to win player of the week awards in consecutive games since Chicago cornerback Charles Tillman in 2012, and the first safety since Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu in 2010.

Prater tied for a conference-best eight made field goals and led the NFC with six 40 yard field goals in November. He was 3-for-3 on game-tying or game-winning field goals with less than 2 minutes to play, helping the Lions to a 3-0 record in the month. He earned a pair of NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Awards (Weeks 9 and 12) in November after converting a pair of game-tying field goals occurred in wins against the Minnesota Vikings that helped propel Detroit into first place in the division.

Saints RB Mark Ingram, Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul and Lions K Matt Prater named NFC Players of Week 12

Running back Mark Ingram of the New Orleans Saints, defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants and kicker Matt Prater of the Detroit Lions are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the 12th week of the 2016 season (November 24, 27-28).

Ingram scored two touchdowns - one on a 10-yard run, the other on a 21-yard reception - and he ran for 146 yards on just 14 carries (10.4 yards per carry) in Week 12. For the season he has 721 yards on 136 carries with threee touchdowns. He also has added 30 receptions for 248 yards and four touchdowns.

Pierre-Paul established a career-high with 3.0 sacks of Josh McCown, forced a fumble that was recovered by Kerry Wynn, and caught a ball McCown had fumbled in midair - after it was forced by Johnathan Hankins - and returned it 43 yards for his third career touchdown in Week 12.

Prater tied the game with a 48-yarder with 1:45 left to play in the game, and then nailed a game-winning 40-yarder as time expired in Week 12. He now has 12 career game-winning kicks with less than 2:00 to play in the fourth quarter or in overtime. This was the third time in Prater’s career (first with the Lions) that he has connected on a game-tying field goal with less than 2:00 minutes to play in the fourth quarter, and then made the game-winning field goal later in the fourth quarter or in OT.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan, Giants S Landon Collins and Lions K Matt Prater named NFC Players of Week 9

Quarterback Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons, safety Landon Collins of the New York Giants and kicker Matt Prater of the Detroit Lions are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the ninth week of the 2016 season (November 3, 6-7).

Ryan tossed four touchdowns in the Falcons, 43-28, win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. He completed 73.5 percent of his passes, connecting on 25-of-34 throws, while totaling 344 yards and a season-high 144.7 passer rating. Ryan hit seven different receivers in the game, including passes of 20+ yards to six different players. He threw touchdowns to four different players, including his league-leading 10th touchdown of 20+ yards on a 32-yard strike to Levine Toilolo.

Against the Eagles, Collins led the Giants with 12 tackles (six solo) and recorded his third interception in two games when he picked off a Carson Wentz pass intended for Nelson Agholor on the second play of the game. Two plays later, Eli Manning and Odell Beckham, Jr. hooked up for the Giants’ first touchdown, giving the Giants a lead they never lost.

Prater converted a 58-yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter to force overtime in the Lions’ 22-16 win at Minnesota. It marked the second-longest game-tying field goal in the final minute of the fourth quarter in NFL history; Prater also holds the record for the longest such field goal (59 yards on December 11, 2011 with Denver against Chicago).
