The Week That Was - Week 3

IT’S STILL EARLY: In the first three weeks of the 2016 season, 28 of the 32 clubs (87.5 percent) have at least one win, tied for the third-highest total in a season through three games since realignment in 2002.

FAB FIVE: Five NFL teams – Baltimore, Denver, Minnesota, New England and Philadelphia – are undefeated through Week 3. Since 1990, 75.6 percent of teams (99 of 131) that started 3-0 made the playoffs.

Baltimore and Philadelphia are the only undefeated teams that did not make the playoffs last season. Since the 12-team playoff format was adopted in 1990, at least four clubs made the playoffs that were not in the postseason the previous year.

PASS FRENZY: There were 10 300-yard passing performances in Week 3, bringing the season total of such games to 30. The 30 individual 300-yard passing games are tied for the second-most through the first three weeks of any NFL season.

ROCKETING ROOKIES: Philadelphia rookie quarterback CARSON WENTZ passed for 301 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 125.9 passer rating in the Eagles’ 34-3 win over Pittsburgh. Wentz has guided the Eagles to a 3-0 start and is the first player in NFL history with at least 100 attempts (102), 60 completions (66) and five touchdown passes (five) without an interception in his first three career games.

Dallas rookie quarterback DAK PRESCOTT passed for 248 yards with two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) and no interceptions in the Cowboys’ 31-17 victory against Chicago on Sunday Night Football.

Wentz (102) and Prescott (99) have the most pass attempts without an interception to start a career in NFL history.

TERRIFIC TREVOR: Denver quarterback TREVOR SIEMIAN passed for 312 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions for a 132.1 passer rating in the Broncos’ 29-17 win at Cincinnati. 

Siemian became the first player in NFL history to pass for at least 300 yards and four touchdowns without an interception in his first career road start.

PROLIFIC PRIOR: Cleveland wide receiver TERRELLE PRYOR had eight receptions for 144 yards, completed three of five passes for 35 yards and rushed for 21 yards in the Browns’ 30-24 overtime loss at Miami. 

Pryor became the first player to have at least 120 receiving yards, 30 passing yards and 20 rushing yards in a single game since Pro Football Hall of Famer FRANK GIFFORD on December 6, 1959.

BOOTING THE RECORD BOOK: Oakland kicker SEBASTIAN JANIKOWSKI converted a 52-yard field goal in the Raiders’ 17-10 win at Tennessee. 

Janikowski has 53 career 50+ yard field goals and passed JASON HANSON (52) for the most in NFL history.
