Panthers sign CB Lou Young to practice squad, release S Marcus Ball

The Carolina Panthers have signed CB Lou Young to the practice squad and released S Marcus Ball from the practice squad on Wednesday.

Young was Waived by Carolina on Sep. 3. Before that, he was signed as a free agent from practice squad by Carolina on Jan. 5. In 2015, Young, spent the entire regular season on Carolina's practice squad. In the postseason, he was signed to the active roster from the practice squad on Jan. 5 when cornerback Charles Tillman was placed on injured reserve and was inactive for NFC Divisional Playoff versus Seattle on Jan. 17, the NFC Championship versus Arizona on Jan. 24 and Super Bowl 50 versus Denver on Feb. 7.

Ball was signed to the Panthers' practice squad on Sep. 29, 2016 after being waived on Sep. 27. In 2015, he spent the entire regular season and postseason on Carolina’s practice squad after attending training camp and being waived on Sep. 15, 2015 in the final roster cutdown. He played in 12 games with the Patriots in 2014, starting two.
