Cardinals RB David Johnson, Lions CB Darius Slay and Redskins PR-WR Jamison Crowder named NFC Players of Week 5

David Johnson was named NFC Offensive Player of
Week 5 of the 2016 NFL season on Wednesday.
Running back David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals, cornerback Darius Slay of the Detroit Lions and punt returner-wide receiver Jamison Crowder of the Washington Redskins are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the fifth week of the 2016 season (October 6, 9-10).

Johnson certainly was that player against the Niners, which is why he was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday. Johnson rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, and added another three catches for 28 yards.
It’s the second player of the week award for the Cardinals this season. Cornerback Marcus Cooper won NFC Defensive Player of the Week after the team’s Week 2 win over the Buccaneers.

Slay had three tackles (all solo), one interception, one forced fumble and two pass defenses against the Eagles. On the forced fumble, the Lions had just taken the team’s final timeout of the game prior to the play. If the Eagles converted on the 3rd-and-2, Philadelphia would have run out the clock and won the game.

During the first quarter of Sunday’s 16-10 victory, Crowder fielded a punt at Washington’s 15-yard line before racing up the field for an 85-yard return. It was Washington’s first punt return for touchdown since the 2008 season, when Santana Moss recorded an 80-yard score against the Detroit Lions.
