Wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. of the New York Giants, defensive end David Irving of the Dallas Cowboys and kicker Wil Lutz of the New Orleans Saints are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the sixth week of the 2016 season (October 13, 16-17).
Beckham tied his season high with eight receptions, gained a career-high 222 yards and scored on touchdown passes of 75 and 66 yards, both in the second half, as the Giants ended a three-game losing streak with their victory over the Ravens. The second touchdown was the game-winner on a fourth-and-one with 1:24 remaining in the game.
Irving was the highlight of the Cowboys’ pass rush, as he sacked Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and forced three fumbles on the day – one of which he recovered on the Cowboys’ goal line. The second-year defensive lineman also posted four tackles and batted down a pass during the game.
Lutz was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday following his 52-yard game-winning field goal against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. Lutz, who was signed by the Saints after he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens at the end of training camp, is the first rookie Saints kicker to receive the honor. Lutz's kick with 11 seconds remaining gave the Saints a 41-38 win over the Panthers and improved New Orleans to 2-3 heading into Sunday's game at Kansas City.
