The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly traded RB Knile Davis to the Green Bay Packers, a source tells Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star.
The return is currently unknown, but if the Chiefs in return get a draft pick(s) and not a player(s), they would gain a cap savings of about $700,000, as the Packers will be responsible for the rest of Davis' remaining $675,000 base salary.
With Packers RB James Starks set to miss some time with a knee injury, the adding of Davis seems to make sense.
Davis is currently in his fourth NFL season in 2016. He was drafted by the Chiefs with the second of two picks in the third round (96th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He signed with Kansas City as the second of two third-round draft picks (96th overall) in that draft (5/13/13).
Davis, 25, has logged a single carry for minus-2 yards this season. For his career, he’s carried the ball 233 times for 775 yards, a 3.3-yard average.
